Hearing Awareness Week 2011
HCIA is very proud to be the Platinum Sponsor of Hearing Awareness Week 2011. Hearing Awareness Week is a vital part of the ongoing effort by the industry to raise the profile of issues faced by people affected by Hearing Loss. Hearing Awareness Week comprises many events across the country, starting with an expo held at Parliament House.
This year Hearing Awareness Week will be launched with a ceremony led by the Minister for Mental Health and Ageing, The Honourable Mark Butler, MP. Donna Staunton, CEO of the HCIA will also make a speech at the launch. HCIA will be calling on government to help lessen the employment and social impacts of hearing impairment by uncoupling access to hearing services and the pension age. This would allow people, particularly those in the 45 - 65 year age to access hearing services to assist them minimise the impact of hearing loss on their productivity and income earning potential.
